Curtin University Alumni Malaysian Chapter Buka Puasa with Kid Chan

The Curtin Alumni Malaysia Chapter recently organised a social networking evening in Kuala Lumpur with special guest speaker Kid Chan. Held at Portofino Italian Restaurant on Thursday 2 July 2015, the event was also held as a “Buka Puasa” gathering in conjunction with the holy month of Ramadan for the Muslim community.

Curtin alumnus Mr. Kid Chan, who has been named as one of the “100 people you must know in Asia” by Malaysia Tatler, is certainly no stranger in Malaysia. Having photographed many well-known personalities including Hollywood superstar Jackie Chan, model Elle Macpherson, designer Jimmy Choo and songstress Siti Nurhaliza to name a few, the evening saw Kid mingled around with fellow alumnus, as well as shared inspirational stories of not only his life journey, but also career highlights since his graduation from Curtin University. Kid, who attended the event with his ever-supporting wife Ms. Shirlyn, certainly did awe the audience with his experiences and advices on how to be a successful entrepreneur.

More than 40 guests graced the evening, which was also attended by Curtin’s Director of Advancement, Mark Herndon, and other distinguished representatives namely Adrian Ong – Vice President of MAAC Alumni Relations, Michael Folk & Michelle – alumni representatives of The University of Western Australia, and Ivan Tan, President of University Of Queensland’s Alumni Malaysia Chapter. Also in attendance were Ms. Angelia Chin-Sharpe and Mr. L A Lim, past presidents of the Curtin Alumni Malaysia Chapter, to show their support.

The event ended with a lucky draw session where the lucky winners walked away with memorabilia from Curtin University such as mugs, glass holders and diary to name a few.
