Putra – MAKNA Run 2016
The MAAC was proud to be one of the event partner to the inaugural Putra – MAKNA Run 2016 – a charity run for Hope and Cancer Research held on Saturday, March 12, 2016 at the Stadium in UPM Sports Centre.
The charity run was held in conjunction with Karnival Sukan UPM 2016. In addition to raising funds for activities and programs on cancer, the event also seek to promote the UPM – MAKNA Cancer Research Laboratory at the Institute of Bioscience, provide education as well as awareness on cancer and its prevention and foster a healthy lifestyle, to the community at large. Hence, a number of activities such as health screening, counselling sessions and a cancer research exhibition were also held at the same time.
There were 2 running routes, that is, 7 km and 5 km. For the 7 km run, prizes were awarded to the top 3 finishers for both male and female categories while for the 5 km run, the 1st 50 runners received a special running token. Certificates of participation were also awarded to all runners. This is the 1st year that the Putra – MAKNA Run is being held and all proceeds from the event were channeled to the UPM – MAKNA Cancer Research Laboratory.
The run was officiated by the Minister of Higher Education, Dato’ Seri Haji Idris Jusoh. More than 20 alumni from Australian universities participated in this event including members of The MAAC Executive Committee.
