The MAAC Alumni Heads Gathering
The MAAC organised its Annual Alumni Heads and Representative Gathering on 20th November 2014 with more than 20 Australian Alumni Chapter’s representatives in attendance.
The event was hosted by The Australian High Commissioner, His Excellency, Mr Rod Smith at his residence. His Excellency is also the Patron of The MAAC. The event was also attended by other Senior Officials of the Australian High Commission from Austrade, Department of Education of Australia and others.
His Excellency, Mr. Rod Smith welcomed everyone and explained in detail about the importance of Alumni contributing to promote benefits of education in Australia, with the coming of the New Colombo Plan. He also gave a brief outline of the New Colombo Plan. His Excellency noted that there are less than 5% of the 300,000 Malaysians who graduated from Australian Universities and Institutions of Higher Learning that are actively engaged in Alumni activities of their respective alma mater in Malaysia but hope that more graduates will see the importance of being an alumnus of their alma mater.
In her speech, Ms Pat PW Yeoh, the President of The MAAC thanked the Australian High Commissioner for hosting the event at his residence. She explained that this annual gathering is aimed at bringing all the Alumni Heads and Representatives together to brainstorm and network under The MAAC umbrella body. It was also a gathering to share news and information on respective upcoming events of The MAAC and other Alumni Chapters. It was a good opportunity for everyone to meet in such a comfortable ambience with some food and drinks after the formalities have ended.
