University of South Australia Malaysia Alumni Reunion Dinner 2017
Successfully hosted in Grand Milennium Hotel Kuala Lumpur on Sunday 30 July 2017, the University of South Australia (UniSA) Malaysia Alumni Reunion Dinner 2017 was attended by distinguished representatives from the Australian Trade Commission (ATC) and The Malaysian Australian Alumni Council (The MAAC), honored guests, UniSA officials from Australia and UniSA alumni of whom many were accompanied by their proud spouses.
In his welcome speech, the President of UniSA Malaysia Alumni, Mr Colin Song highlighted that the UniSA Business School is ranked in the top 1% worldwide and is one of just nine business schools nationally with EQUIS accreditation awarded by the EFMD Quality Improvement System. With a QS 5 Star™ rating, UniSA is Australia’s University of Enterprise with a culture of innovation anchored around global and national links to academic, research and industry partners.
Professor Tanyo Monro, Deputy Vice Chancellor, Research and Innovation spoke on the milestones, achievements and aspirations of the university. In recognition of his dedication and commitment, she announced and presented the Vice Chancellor’s Alumni Leadership award to Mr Yeong Chee Meng, Fellow of UniSA. Professor Tanyo Monro also personally handed over gifts and certificates to the Malaysia Alumni Chapter Committee Members in appreciation of their contributions.
There were door gifts for everyone, and amidst the mesmerizing violin musical performance by Mr Julian, sumptuous Chinese cuisines were served with a free flow of fine Australian wine. Added to the fun and vibrancy was an instant photo booth. The colorful spread of accessories such as fanciful hats and over-sized spectacles beckoned creative poses with ecstatic laughs over arty individual and group photos!
Whilst dined and wined, there were much mingling around renewing bonds and establishing new ones. With selfies, wefies and eager official photographers around, there were certainly ample photos taken on the momentous joys, smiles, giggles and gestures of friendship. Remembering the less fortunate, raffle tickets were sold and all fund raised will be channeled to the Cornerstone Orphanage Home in Semenyih.
The highlight of this event which brought on loud cheers and excitement were the raffle lucky draws with attractive prices. The raffle tickets were picked by distinguished invitees such as MAAC President Ms Pat Yeoh, ATC Manager Mr Adil Akbar, UniSA Australia Professor Tanya Monro and UniSA Malaysia Alumni President Mr Colin Song. The night ended happily with special lucky draws on Australian wine.
All said and done, it was indeed a pleasurable occasion made possible by all who were present. To UniSA alumni in particular, this was yet another cherished opportunity to gather together and to further strengthen the special bonds amongst and with the University of South Australia.
